Prison Break
…To open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
- Isaiah 42:7
Sometimes we need to be rescued from things that hold us captive—things like
debt, addictions or relationships we can’t escape from under our own power.
But Jesus has come to set every prisoner free.
In Acts 12, Peter was in jail after James’ execution—and King Herod was planning
to execute Peter as well. But the Church came together to pray and
miraculously, though he was chained between two prison guards, Peter’s chains
were loosed and he was set free through the power of prayer. He went
immediately to the prayer meeting and knocked on the door while they were
still praying for him.
Prison bars can’t hold fast against the power of God. If you or someone you love
is in bondage to the world, pray fervently! Never underestimate the power of
prayer! Our God is a mighty God who can and will break the strongest chains!
Even if you can’t see a way out, the Lord has already planned one for you—you
have been set free. Claim Jesus’ victory in your life and walk in the light!
Like Peter, you will be liberated.
